Ten has new chief after Hamish McClennan steps down

THE Ten Network has a new chief executive after CEO and executive chairman Hamish McLennan stepped down from both roles.

Chief operating officer and chief financial officer Paul Anderson will step into the CEO position, effective today, the Australian reported.

Non-executive director David Gordon has also been appointed chairman.

"The strategic arrangements announced on June 15, including the proposed investment by Foxtel in Ten and the transformative agreement with MCN, mean that my role is complete," Mr McLennan said.

"An independent chairman is needed to lead the board through the next phase of the company's development. David Gordon has been an exceptional Director and his contribution has always been of the highest standard. He will represent all shareholders very well."

Mr Anderson joined Ten in 2003 and took on the role of COO in April last year.

Earlier this month, Ten released its ratings results for the half year.

It said it was the only commercial primary channel to increase its prime time audience during the period.

It lifted its total people audience by 15% and its people 25 to 54 audience by 14%.

Network Ten (TEN, ELEVEN and ONE) was also the only commercial network to add more viewers, with its total people audience up 4% and its 25 to 54s audience up 4%.

Network Ten finished the first half with a 28.8% commercial share of 25 to 54s, up from 24.4% in the previous corresponding period.

TEN recorded its best first-half audience performance since 2012, driven by the success of key programs such as MasterChef Australia, Family Feud, The Project, I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Shark Tank, Gogglebox Australia, The Living Room, Have You Been Paying Attention? and the Australian FIA Formula One World Championship 2015 Race.
