Teenager fined over fight at train station

A MELEE that broke out at Goodna Railway Station prompted seven police units to attend to bring the scuffle under control.

The fight broke out after about 200 revellers - most of whom were aged between 15 to 20 years - left a nearby party.

Among those involved in the fray was Martin Samuelu Loleni Tafunai.

The 17-year-old appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday to plead guilty to a public nuisance charge in relation to the incident.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Brad Dick said Tafunai was one of the main aggressors who took part in the fight at 12.30am on March 1.

Sgt Dick said at least seven police units were called to the station to get the situation under control.

Defence lawyer Alexander Weddell said Tafunai had been intoxicated at the time of the offence and this was the first time his client had appeared in court.

Tafunai was fined $400 and no conviction was recorded.
