Teen to face court after allegedly throwing knife at group

A TWEED teen will face court after allegedly attempting to stab a group at a skate park.

About 9am Monday, a 14-year-old boy went to the skate park on Heffron St, where he allegedly approached a group, while armed with two knives.

The boy allegedly threw one of the knives at the group, narrowly missing one boy.

One of the boys then ran into the grounds of the nearby high school, and the 14-year-old allegedly followed him, still armed with the knives.

Police allege the 14-year-old attempted to stab the boy, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being injured.

Police were called to the school, where they arrested the 14-year-old.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with affray, assault and being armed with intent to commit indictable offence and refused bail to appear in Children's Court on Tuesday.
