THE Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted a teenager after receiving a reported knock to the head while swimming in the Kingfisher Bay Resort pool.

The 15-year-old boy from Hervey Bay was said to be swimming with friends when his injury caused a brief immersion underwater.

The patient was airlifted from the island, accompanied by his mother, to Nambour Hospital where he was admitted for observation.
