Teach kids to ride safely

IF you're keen to get your kids on top of two motorised wheels and learn the best way how to ride, get to Benaraby this weekend.

A kick-start course is being held at Jono Porter Memorial Drive this Sunday from 7am onwards.

Level two coach Jason Rice said the kick-start course was the ideal way for youngsters to learn to ride a motorbike in a controlled safe environment, instead of tearing around in the scrub.

“In the bush, the bikes are going in different directions and are different sizes,” Rice said.

“At the track, we match the bikes up in size and everyone is going in the same direction.”

Matt Kennedy will be giving demonstrations on correct riding technique as part of the course.

The cost of the kickstart course is $35 plus $20 for a licence.

Gladstone and District Dirtriders Club days will be held on October 7 and 17, and an enduro-cross event will be on October 9-10.
