Tannum Sands comes alive as nippers build confidence
SECOND-YEAR age manager Brooke Goodwin said the green-cap nippers have made massive progress since her group started Sunday morning sessions six weeks ago.
Goodwin noted that the confidence levels of her troops had risen so much that it was sometimes a struggle to get the nippers out of the warm waters of Tannum Sands.
"We only have had it going six weeks and I can see their confidence building," Goodwin said.
From not knowing anyone at the start, Goodwin observed that most had made new friends and it also extended beyond.
"It's great for getting parents involved as well," she said.
As for the green-cap exercises itself, Goodwin added that the core basics were taught and these were then extended as the nippers got older.
"It's all about the beach water safety and the things that they'll be doing when they're a bit older," Goodwin explained.
"Participation is what it's all about as well."
