Tannum mums, sons take on tough track after tough year
MUDDY obstacles, military-style tracks and a whole lot of running is in store for this group of Tannum Sands mums and sons this weekend.
The team will take part in this weekend's Tough Mudder at Sirromet Winery.
Jody North and some of her closest friends hope the 18-20km challenge will bring them closer together.
"I had a few unexpected things happen last year.
"The biggest was a marriage break up.
"A group of us got together and we were having a drink and we decided it was time to do something for ourselves," she said.
" We decided the Tough Mudder was it."
The group of friends met through their sons who all go to school together at Tannum Sands.
Jody said it will be the first time any of them have competed in the event.
"It'll be a physical and mental challenge for all of us.
"There's so many different obstacles and we're all of different abilities so we'll really need to support each other.
"After the year we've had as a family, I think it will help improve the relationship with my kids, while also accomplishing something I really want to do."
