Tannum fall short against Brothers in the rugby league
ROCKHAMPTON Brothers withstood a stern challenge from hosts Tannum Sands to win 24-16 in the Rockhampton Senior Rugby League.
Tannum scored first, but the visitors always had an answer and responded just as quickly each time.
The win has kept Brothers undefeated and while Tannum coach Sione Tongia was pleased with certain aspects, there are other areas where improvement is needed.
"Discipline was the one thing we need to improve as a few unnecessary penalties were being given away and this may have been the difference," Tongia said.
Two successive tries for the visitors at the start of the second half and from that point the men from Rockhampton were never headed.
Meanwhile in the Gladstone and District Rugby League, Dawson Valley defeated new team Gladstone Rebels 40-28.
Tate George scored two tries for Rebels while Ray Mercy lived up to his surname to show none of it and was adjudged as player of the match.
