Tannum apartments win state's best in design

A BUILDING in Tannum Sands has been voted as the best in architectural design in Australia.

The building on the corner of Pacific Ave and Ocean St has won the Building Designers Association Queensland state award for residential buildings over three stories.

Designed by Brad Read Design Group, the apartment building features five commercial shops and 20 residential units.

Shops already open are Tannum  Beach Fish and Chips, LeaLeighs Fashions and Accessories and Fit for Life Healthy Food shop.

Currently being fitted out is Tapas de Vino - a Tapas and Wine Bar/Fine Dining Restaurant. Tapas de Vino, opening in October,  will become a major attraction for discerning diners.

When it was announced they had won the regional award, managing director Brad Read told The Observer that it offered a new level of design.

"It's reflected the local area providing that the units are with excellent vista of all the views and the integration of the retail at the footpath level," Mr Read said.
