Tannum Sands woman Lynette Dahl running for council

TANNUM Sands woman Lynette Dahl says the council's planning and approvals processes need overhauling and she's hoping to land a spot on the council to make it happen.

Ms Dahl's family has been living at Tannum Sands for several generations and she says it's time to stand up for her community.

She said Gladstone's issue, including the CBD, was a lack of identity.

"We need to know who we are as a town and promote ownership of that," she said.

Ms Dahl says her area is long overdue for a public pool and the direction towards high density living doesn't represent the Boyne Tannum region as a town.

"I feel obliged to run," Ms Dahl said.

"(My family) tends to step up."

Ms Dahl, along with fellow council hopefuls Desley O'Grady and Amanda McRae, were all in the public gallery for the first council meeting of 2016 on Tuesday, January 19.
