Take a bright, relaxed approach to teen fashion
LOOKING colourful, fun and relaxed is the way to go with teen fashion this season.
Some of the prime patterns trending at the moment are prints, one-coloured fluoro tops, denim-ripped waist-high shorts, waist-high skirts and bright-coloured dresses.
This week we take a look at some of the cute outfits at Gladstone's Supre - some for the casual beach day out with friends and others for a friend's party or evening out for dinner.
Gladstone Supre manager Natalie Hazzard said bright colours were definitely a current yes.
"I think if you're going to go something bright on top - keep it plain on the bottom and vice versa," she says.
"Really making sure the items go well balanced."
Accessorising is also a plus and can take a plain outfit to something fit for evening wear.
Take Supre's after-party cobalt dress, for instance - the right waist belt, accessories and flats can make this ideal for a party or restaurant occasion.
Or you could try a different approach and dress it down for a more casual occasion.
"Keep an understanding of the surrounds you are in," Ms Hazzard says when it comes to choosing an outfit.
"Take a restaurant - dressing up with a cocktail dress, flats and necklace is cute enough.
"Not over the top, but still evening wear."
Another option for a pub meal with the family may consist of high-waisted panel shorts with a bright top and accessories.
Ms Hazzard said jumpsuits were also big with young teens. And the capes thrown over can add just the right touch.
Large on the trend list at the moment is also those hot little crop tops.
Ms Hazzard said girls could even use these for layering.
"Play around with different styles and colours and make your own sense of style," she said.
