Swimmers out as algae rolls in at Agnes Water main beach

THE main beach at Agnes Water was closed for about two hours on Thursday morning as dirty brown algae blew into the patrolled area.

Lifeguard Ben Davis said it hadn't been dangerous, just unpleasant for bathers.

The algae dispersed and the beach was reopened around lunchtime.

Today winds will be north west to north east 10-15 knots, reaching 15-20 knots at times.

Seas will be 1.2-1.7m. Swell is less than 1.5m.
