Swans will bounce back: Hannebery

AFL: Sydney Swans midfielder Dan Hannebery says the team can bounce back from Saturday's deflating defeat to Greater Western Sydney and win Saturday's cut-throat semi-final with Adelaide at the SCG.

Hannebery, who was one of his side's best in the 36-point loss, told AFL.com.au the Swans needed to get back to what they know best this week after allowing the Giants to outplay them.

"It's pretty deflating,” Hannebery (pictured) said.

"I've got full confidence that they'll bounce back next week and play the footy we know they're capable of playing.

"We've just got to stick at what works for us - be hard and pressure really well.

"At the end of the day our desire, our will to win, will to compete, we need to make sure we have 22 blokes willing to do that next week and that's the starting point.

"If we do that, I give us a really good chance.”

Hannebery said there were no excuses for Saturday's defeat.

"I thought we didn't tackle well enough around the whole ground, but especially in our forward 50, we didn't lock it in,” Hannebery said.

"We missed targets, we fumbled - they were harder than us.

"And on the flipside, they capitalised on our mistakes.

"We were outplayed in a number of areas.”

Meanwhile, Giants star Steve Johnson could miss next weekend's preliminary final against the winner of the Hawthorn v Bulldogs clash following a hit on Swans star Josh Kennedy.

Kennedy had to be helped to his feet and was noticeably groggy after the hit from the former Geelong player.

If charged by the Match Review Panel, Johnson looks set for a two-match ban reduced to a one-match suspension with an early guilty plea.
