SUV hits car into power pole, abandons injured driver

POLICE are appealing for public assistance to help locate a vehicle that was involved in a traffic crash overnight in Thornlands.

Around 7.45pm, a car that was travelling on Springacre Road slowed down to pull into the driveway of a residence.

A white SUV that was towing a boat trailer travelling in the same direction then collided with the back of the car, pushing it through a concrete bollard on the side of the driveway and then into a power pole.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old woman, was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment of head and facial injuries and a possible broken arm.

The driver of the SUV stopped around 150 meters down the road, but then continued on without assisting and was last seen travelling on Springacre Road.

Police believe that the SUV will have significant front end damage as there was fluid and debris that was left at the scene that leaked from the vehicle.

Shortly after this crash, two cars and a truck were involved in a separate crash further up the road, but there were no reported injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone that might have seen a white SUV towing trailer in the area between 7.30 and 8.30pm or anyone that might see or be approached by the owner of a white SUV to repair significant front end damage to contact the Brisbane Forensic Crash Unit on 3364 3311 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Investigations are continuing.
