Working together on sustainability vital for future
THE catchphrase of this century will surely be environmental sustainability.
Regardless of your views on the divisive topics of LNG, global warming, open cut mining or protecting our reef, few will doubt the need to sustain our environment for our children and beyond.
This has real implications for Gladstone, an industrial town and mineral export port right on the doorstep of the Great Barrier Reef.
This weekend more than 8000 people turned up to Ecofest, our annual event held at the Tondoon Botanic Gardens that promotes sustainability and protecting our environment.
And this year's theme 'Change for a better environment - Together' certainly hits the nail on the head for what is required.
The whole community has to be taken along and together we need to reduce our impact on our environment and to sustain it well into the future.
Ecofest has come a long way since it first started and I hope it might inspire us to change our habits all year round.
