Survey of SEQ shows overwhelming support for renewables

THE vast majority of Sunshine Coast and Brisbane residents say they want the renewable energy target retained or increased, a new survey has found.

A survey of about 500 people in the capital and the Sunshine Coast found up to 96% backed the RET, and up to 91% of residents surveyed in Fairfax - Clive Palmer's electorate - supported his position not to repeal it.

The survey was completed for the new Solar Citizens campaign, which has sprung up since the Abbott Government's RET review panel recommended decreasing the emissions target.
