Surfer thrown from board airlifted from Rainbow Beach

A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after he was thrown from his surfboard, hitting the sand at Double Island Point at Rainbow Beach. 

The man in his 20s has a loss of sensation in his hands and was treated by CareFlight's critical care doctor at the scene at around 4.:15 pm before being airlifted in the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter. 

He travelled to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.
