‘This is super awkward for me’

COMEDIAN Nazeem Hussain committed a cardinal reality TV sin when he accidentally let slip the third-place contestant on tonight's grand final of I'm A Celeb - a good 10 minutes before it was due to be announced.

With only Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Casey Donovan and Dane Swan left after six weeks in the jungle, tonight's grand final saw hosts Julia Morris and Chris Brown, live from the African jungle.

During one live cross they checked in with ex-contestants Hussain and Steve Price, who were evicted from the show over the past few days.

Speaking to the pair, Hussain said he'd be happy for any of the final three to win - which made it sad for him that "Nat has come third."

Cue a very awkward cover-up from the hosts, with Brown trying to reframe the gaffe a minute later when he told viewers that Nazeem had "made his prediction" about who would come third.

The damage was done, though - within seconds of Hussain's slip, social media was alight with viewers asking if he'd just revealed the third-place getter.

Even Nazeem himself tweeted about his awkward cover up, saying "Who saw that coming?" as the show went to air.

Sure enough, one ad break and about 10 minutes later, Nat Bass was announced as the third-placed contestant for I'm A Celebrity 2017.

A Network Ten spokesperson apologised for the gaffe, saying: "Nazeem Hussain accidentally told audiences that Natalie Bassingthwaighte was the third runner-up. Nazeem believed that this had already been announced on air."

There's a lesson here: When you have top-secret reality TV results, share them with no-one. Least of all loose-lipped comedians.
