Summer softball competition hitting off

SOFTBALL: The Gladstone Summer Softball competition has hit-off with exciting games and plenty of skill and talent on show.

The Women's A-grade competition is shaping up to be the blue-ribbon event of the competition with Bleats on top of the table and Telfords and Souths not far behind.

Softball association president Wendy Scott said the season had started off well with the men and women's competition looking strong.

"Telfords have the double header tonight and if they can win both games it will help improve their position on the competition table,” Scott said.

"Bleats are ahead at the moment on the points table but Telfords and Souths are playing some good softball at the moment as well.”

The men's competition is starting to heat up with the senior team Red Sox against the junior team in Blue Jays.

"The men are neck and neck at the moment and in an even competition playing on a Thursday night,” Scott said.

"The quality of the men's games make for good viewing for spectators and I encourage them to go down and watch.

"There are current and former national and state players in the competition, which makes for a very good quality of softball.”

Tonight's women's games are Telfords versus Bleats at 6.30pm and then backing up to play Souths at 8.15pm.
