Summer comp a hit with players

HOCKEY: The Summer 6 a side competition has hit off on Tuesday nights at Rigby Park.

Captain-coach of Agents of Shield Kelly Abell has enjoyed the casual hit out of the mixed competition.

"It's a great way to keep up our fitness during the off season and stay in contact with our fellow hockey players," Abell said.

"The teams are mixed up and the variety of players makes it for a fun night for everyone."

The games will be played with a six-a-side team across field with boards on the 'sideline' to help keep the ball in play.

In this competition the emphasis is on enjoyment, social atmosphere, skill development and maintenance and will run until December 11.

While competitiveness is not discouraged, teams must remember novice players with different skill levels are playing and need encouragement to develop their skills.

Masters Hockey for over-35s is on Thursday nights and current or former players are encouraged to attend and have a hit around.
