Steve and Chantelle to celebrate Block win with tradies

A PARTY for their tradies is the first order of business for The Block: Fans vs Faves winners Chantelle Ford and Steve O'Donnell.

The couple is keen to thank all of the tradesmen who helped them along the way during the 10-week renovation which has earned them a hefty $736,000.

They set a new Block record when their luxury loft apartment at Melbourne's Dux Theatre sold for $2.47 million, a $636,000 profit over the reserve.

Small business owner Ford, 31, and chimney sweep O'Donnell, 35, had no renovation experience when they joined the reality show.

"They were so patient and taught us so much," Ford told APN.

"For Steve and I it was important we learned a lot as we went along and they did take the time to teach us, which was so cool."

More than 2.18 million viewers tuned in to Wednesday's grand final auctions, the success of which shocked contestants and fans alike.

The four teams earned more than $2.4 million in profits combined, the biggest returns in the show's history and thought to even be the largest amount given away on any single season of an Australian television show.

Across the eight seasons of the renovation show more than $8.1 million has been awarded.

Ford and O'Donnell say they're open to any possibilities going forward, including another series of The Block.
