Boats provide backdrop for park wedding
GLADSTONE'S history played a prominent role in the location of Ursula Kazmaier and Peter Hansen's wedding.
On September 27, the couple, who have been together for 16 years, gathered with nearly 100 family and friends at Gladstone's picturesque Spinnaker Park for their wedding ceremony.
"It was beautiful - the weather was perfect. There was no wind or clouds," Ursula said.
"We had it at Spinnaker Park because we wanted the war ship in the background; my partner is a big boatie, so he loves it."
The bride said her favourite part of the day was getting to say "I do".
The reception was held at the Grand Hotel where guests indulged in a carvery-style meal.
Some guests travelled from as far as Townsville and Sydney to be part of the celebration.
A colour scheme of red and ivory saw Ursula's two bridesmaids don full-length red gowns.
The groomsmen kept it traditional with a black shirt, vest and slacks.
Ursula and Peter were engaged for 13 months.
"He proposed at his birthday party - we had a barbecue and fire at the Calliope Rodeo Grounds and it was in front of our friends and family," Ursula said.
"I wasn't expecting it at all."
The newlyweds are honeymooning in Sydney and will travel to Cairns before returning to Gladstone.
