Stars align at Suncorp

AN ARRAY of former Gladstone players will be on show across the grades in Queensland Cup grand finals on Sunday at Suncorp Stadium.

Former Gladstone Brother Brendan Gibb will contest the Intrust Super Cup final for Norths Devils in the top grade, while in the under-20s ex-Brother and current Easts Tiger Jono Stewart will square off against Wynnum Seagulls' Biloela-bred Casey Rogers.

Gibb, who played a season for the Brisbane Broncos under-20s side, said playing on the hallowed turf at Suncorp in a grand final would be something special.

“Just running out on to that field in the main game is going to be unreal, you get shivers down your spine just thinking about it,” he said.

Gibb has been at Norths for two seasons now, but is somewhat nostalgic when it comes to his old club, Gladstone Fish.

“I miss playing for them sometimes; it was good to see they won all three local grand finals. Maybe one day I'll be able to pull a jersey on back there,” he said.

In just his second year at Easts Tigers Stewart said he was also excited about the prospect of his first game at Suncorp.

“I've never played at Suncorp, I can't wait; I've always wanted to play there,” he said.

The main game kicks off at 2pm.
