Staff told ‘nothing’ on future

QUEENSLAND Nurses' Union regional organiser David Abraham said the situation at Moura Hospital had been handled badly.

"You can only blame the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service Board," Mr Abraham said, adding the union was awaiting a meeting with the board to tell staff about the future of the hospital.

"Following that meeting, staff were to have individual meetings with board members to discuss their futures. By postponing this meeting, they have only prolonged the emotional stress.

"There are a lot of angry and upset people worrying about their futures," he said.

He said there had been an extreme lack of communication between the board and staff.

"The community seems to be of the opinion the hospital will be closed but the only people who haven't been told anything are the staff at the hospital."

Mr Abraham said he dealt with 22 nursing staff but that did not include operational and administrative staff.

The union had heard no patients would be admitted after Monday.
