Spread Christmas cheer

IT is time to start preparing your shoeboxes for the 2011 Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.

This Christmas you can bring joy to a child who may have never received a gift before by filling a shoebox with simple items and dropping it off to a collection centre.

Boxes from Australia go to children in South-East Asia and the Pacific region (Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, PNG, Fiji, Vanuatu).

Items such as a doll or teddy bear, clothing, school supplies, something to play with and something special are good box fillers.

For information about packing your shoebox, visit www.samaritanspurse.org.au.

Completed Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes must be dropped off by October 28 at one of the following places: The Great Australian Ice Creamery, Liz Cunningham's office, Bill Robertson Toyota, Coles Tannum Sands and Miriam Vale – Gladstone Regional Office.

For further information, call Helen Mitchell on 49739137.
