Sports clubs eligible for GRC funding worth $7695

Ten sport and recreation clubs within the Gladstone Region will share in $7695 worth of Gladstone Regional Council funding.

Council's parks and recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Graham McDonald said the allocation was part of Council's 2014-15 Sport and Recreation Club Development Grant Round 2 funding.

The Council grants offer funding for small projects, up to a maximum of $1200, to assist sport and recreation clubs within the Gladstone Region.

Eligible club projects include equipment purchases, training for volunteers, coaching accreditation and development plans.

"Council receives keen interest in these sport and recreation grants with two rounds of funding provided per year," Cr McDonald said.

He said the high standard of applications received made selection by the Grants Assessment Panel more difficult.

"Eligible applications were assessed against set criteria with consideration also given to community benefits," Cr McDonald said.

"Council is pleased these grants will assist groups to encourage development and enhancement of sport and recreation facilities within the Gladstone Region."

Round 1 Sport and Recreation Club Development Grants for 2015-16 will open later this year.
