Local shop knocks back chance to be in Pawn Stars

SPEEDI Cash pawn shop on Toolooa St, Gladstone has revealed it was approached by a television production company to star in the Australian version of the US show Pawn Stars.

Speedi Cash operators were was asked to submit a resume about why they should be the feature shop for the show, but they decided against it.

Foxtel commissioned an Australian version of the show last year.

The US version is one of the highest rating program's on the company's A&E channel.

It said Pawn Stars Australia would bring viewers inside the doors of locally run pawn shops, where the owners buy and sell collectible, unusual and historically significant items.

The show will air this year.
