Son of Australians lost on MH370 releases a statement

THE son of Mary and Rodney Burrows has spoken of the "terrible tragedy" which has stolen his parents.

Reading directly from a statement at a press conference this afternoon in Brisbane, Jayden Burrows said they were finally enjoying the fruits of their labour in retirement.

Rodney was born and raised in the township of Thangool, about 12km south of Biloela in Central Queensland.

Here is what Jayden Burrows said in full:

Our family is trying to come to terms with this terrible tragedy. We dearly love and will miss Mum and dad.

The love and compassion they shared and their priority of putting their family first will help us get through this.

We're heartbroken this stage of their life has been cut short. They worked hard to reap the rewards of their retirement so they could travel and spend time with family.

The are extremely grateful for the love and support from all our family and friends.

We are grateful to all the organisations and countries providing the extensive search operations and our prayers and thoughts include the families of the other passengers and crew on board the flight.

Our family appreciate all the well wishes and prayers but we now ask for privacy and request that our wish for family solitude be respected during this extremely heart-wrenching time.
