Flatmates get legless after a month off the grog

DRY July quickly turned into all-out August for Tristan Jay Crosling and his housemates after a stint off the grog last month.

Crosling and his pals decided to persevere through July 2014 without a drop of liquor in their system.

Bang.

Come August 2, 2014, Crosling, 21, and his mates were frothing at the mouth and keen to finally quench their 31-day-long thirst.

In an all-out party at his Frenchville pad on that fateful day, Crosling and his housemates hit the turps and ended up with the cops at their front door.

He pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court last week to one count of disobeying a police requirement, obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties and possessing pipes used to smoke cannabis.

About 11.30pm on August 2 police attended Crosling's home after they received a noise complaint.

When they arrived, they heard someone smashing objects.

The court heard when police officers entered the house, a man with a ripped shirt and blood smeared across his face greeted them.

Police prosecutor Clance Fox said when the officers inspected the house, they found a glass water pipe in a bedroom.

Mr Fox said the home also smelled like someone had been smoking cannabis.

When the officers asked Crosling for his name, he constantly mumbled under his breath.

Crosling's defence lawyer Brian McGowran said his client and his other housemates simply wanted to go all out after they finished Dry July.

He also said his client and the others started fighting "playfully" among themselves.

Magistrate Michael O'Driscoll fined Crosling $700 for the offences.
