Snakes alive! Yet another snake bite victim

A WOMAN has been flown to Toowoomba from the Southern Downs for treatment of a suspected snake bite.

An RACQ CareFlight Rescue spokeswoman said the 60-year-old had been walking through long grass on a property north west of Texas when she felt something hit her leg.

The Gold Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter flew to Texas Hospital shortly after 11am to take the woman to Toowoomba Hospital.

"Emergency services were contacted after the woman began experiencing a stinging sensation in the affected area," the spokeswoman said.

"She told emergency services that she didn't see a snake, but had two puncture wounds on her leg."

The woman was the fifth person from the Darling Downs and south west to be airlifted for treatment of a snake bite in the past seven weeks.

She travelled in a stable condition.
