Liveliest seat in the house: snake found in centre toilets

THIS could be the hottest seat in the house this summer - sure to get you jumping up and down.

Concertgoers at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre are being reminded to check the dunny for lurking snakes after an early start to the snake season.

Signs have been put up in venues across the state, similar to the one pictured, warning full-bladdered patrons to check the loo for any unwelcomed sightings.

A warmer-than-average winter and spring season has seen an increased number of snake sightings across the state, with many being reported inside water pipes.

Snake experts say the slippery reptiles often seek out water and cooler spots to rest from the heat - making the toilet bowl a perfect place to relax.

People are being advised to flush the toilet before use as it will send the snake back down the pipe and avoid a nasty surprise when sitting down.

It follows several incidents across the state already where snakes have had to be removed from toilet bowls

Two large pythons, measuring 3m and 2.4m, had to be pried from separate Townsville toilets in September as they tried to escape the dry weather.

Management at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, which backs on to the Boondall Wetlands, said it had put up the sign in the toilet block a number of years ago following incidents of snakes in the toilets.

Concertgoers planning to head to The Weeknd's Starboy Tour on Wednesday or Yusuf/ Cat Stevens show next weekend were being reminded to check the toilet before use.
