YOU may have heard of snakes on a plane but have you ever thought about snakes on a pizza?

Probably not, and luckily for one slithery little guy his visit to the Bundaberg Eagle Boys store didn't end in him making the topping.

Last Friday about 5.30pm, as peak hour was about to hit the store, the employees saw a red-bellied black snake in the kitchen.

Shift manager Jarome Gorlick said he was handing over the shift for the night when they realised there was a snake in the back of the store.

"I was told there was a snake - so we proceeded to evacuate the store," Mr Gorlick said.

"It was just coming into the start of peak and the customers were fairly understanding of what was going on.

"I contacted the snake catcher who came in and removed the snake quite quickly.

"When I rang him up, I told him I thought it was red-bellied black snake, he seemed a bit hesitant as they are not common in the area."

Bundaberg snake catcher Anthony Zink said the snake may have hitched a ride into town under a car as the breed is not typically found in urban areas.

"Red-bellies don't live in the town area," Mr Zink said.

"The last one I saw was in a car on Bourbong St a couple of years ago."

Mr Zink removed the snake from the store and relocated it out of town.
