SMOKE seen coming from the northern part of the Gladstone region is being caused by grass fires near Rockhampton.

One at Gracemere was reported at 11.38am, and there is another permitted burn to the south-east of Rockhampton.

The large vegetation fire was burning along Old Gracemere Rd, Fairy Bower and rural fire crews were on the scene including at least one truck from Gracemere rural brigade.

That fire was extinguished early this afternoon but another is now burning at Glendale.

Crews are also helping with the permitted burn at Emu Park Rd, Nankin.
