Hub hosts tea party to mark disability week

IT'S celebration time and you're invited. The Gladstone Community Hub is a hive of activity this week as the region celebrates Disability Action Week.

The Hub hosted a tea party for the city's councillors and members of the community on Thursday.

"It's amazing how everyone is coming together to recognise that people with disabilities are inclusive members of the community," said co-ordinator Sue Beutel.

"Saturday is our big day with the market and open day here at the hub. We are expecting a good crowd."

Guests were treated to a range of treats and live music by singer Val Gebauer.

"I'm really enjoying the music today," Monique Ferluga said. "I helped with the food and made the raspberry muffins."

A market and open day will conclude the celebrations on Saturday. The event is open from 10am-1pm and is free.

There will be music, a sausage sizzle, Old MacDonald's farm and market stalls.

There will also be a raffle and arts and crafts activities for kids.
