Skating Heaven

RAIN, hail or shine and you will still find kids out on their bikes at the skate park enjoying what’s left of the school holidays.

It has been a jam-packed two weeks with some great entertainment for kids happening around the region.

There have been some great movies out, heaps of activities at the city libraries and festivals but the old-fashioned trips to the beach, mall and skate park have proved most popular.

Yesterday kids were out on their skateboards, scooters, rollerskates and pushbikes performing tricks completely oblivious to the wet weather.

Kids said they all love the skate park for the people, the cool tricks and the awesome jumps, and a day out with friends.

Skating has been the flavour of the school holidays with a Subliminal BMX skate jam held at both Gladstone and Agnes earlier in the holidays.

The Street Wise clinic was conducted by level one skate coaches and was an excellent event with heaps of avid young skaters coming out to participate.

The event was just one of many organised by the PCYC’s Youth Management Team and affiliate for the council, Naomi Irvin, said it was great to see young kids getting involved.

“They are always keen for new ideas and offers of support from interested people or organisations,” Ms Irvin said.
