Daredevils on a roll as Skateboard Mayhem takes over

ADRENALINE was pumping at the Boyne Island Skate Park on Sunday as young daredevils from the region put their skills to the test.

More than 100 eager skateboarders, BMX riders and scooter enthusiasts took part in the SUNfest program, Skateboard Mayhem.

The afternoon workshop was run by professional skateboarders from Drawing Boards who travelled from Brisbane to attend the event.

SUNfest co-ordinator Kathy Andrew was delighted with the turnout.

"The kids were given a demo by the professional riders before breaking into groups for a workshop to learn tips and tricks," she said.

"This is an example of getting our kids out and about in the region and showing them there's plenty to do."

Donny Fraser of Drawing Boards said the workshop aimed to build a great social scene for young people.

"Our workshop today catered for all abilities and experienced riders," he said.
