Puppies were stomped on or hit with blunt object

UPDATE 2.47pm:

GLADSTONE Police have released a statement about the puppies, saying an autopsy revealed they died of hook worms.

Police said they would now be investigating why a complaint was made about the puppies being bashed to death.

POLICE are desperate for information about the brutal killing of six puppies at Agnes Water.

The German shepherd puppies were stomped on or hit with a blunt object, police say.

Gladstone Detective senior sergeant Luke Peachy said the owner of the dogs was quite distressed when she called police last week.

"Police arrived to the (Agnes Water) property to find five puppies already dead and one seriously injured," he said.

The mother of the litter was clearly shaken up, Snr Sgt Peachey said, and was with her three surviving puppies.

Police are asking the public for information.
