Site set to boost skills

TRAINING provider Site Group International is expanding its operations in a bit to find employment solutions for mining and resources companies whose timelines are coming under threat due to skills shortages.

Site Group operates Site Skills Training, running facilities throughout Australia and an expansive campus in the Philippines.

This year alone the organisation has established operations in Perth, Gladstone and on the Sunshine Coast, offering facility or on-site training and assessing/up-skilling on behalf of companies and individuals looking to enter or advance their employee or own skills.

The Philippines operation has recently entered into a training agreement with the Monark Foundation, the training arm of Monark Group who is the Philippines supplier of Caterpillar equipment.

Monark has delivered engines, diagnostic equipment, transmission-simulators, hydraulic pull down service equipment and other specialised equipment with CAT qualified trainers to be located at the facility where Site has provided around 30,000 square metres of the campus for training, including buildings, workshops and large undercover work bays.

Last month Site Group International announced the acquisition of Axis Training Group (ATG) who specialise in on-site safety, skills and environmental training for the oil and gas, mining  and resources and construction industries.

ATG has serviced several large clients throughout the Middle-East and Asia-Pacific regions and through the acquisition will have its management and trainers to continue to deliver on-site training for Site.

A key outcome of the ATG acquisition, anticipated to be completed in July, is the establishment of a facility in Darwin which will improve the capability of Site to facilitate training and deployment of workers in targeting 36 projects in the Northern Territory's project pipeline.
