Sister’s state rivalry in hockey

STAR Gladstone hockey players Lindsay Mathison and Rita Boyd have been selected in the combined Queensland and New South Wales under 21 women's team that will compete at the Australian National Championships from April 10 to 17 in Sydney.

The team was selected after Northern Territory withdrew its women's team from the championships and a replacement team was required.

The team was formed by a combination of nine Hockey NSW and nine Hockey Queensland athletes.

The selection will also have a family rivalry feel to it after Mathison's sister, Morgan, was selected in the QLD under 21 team earlier this year.
