Sisters love a day spent at Tannum beach
IT'S the middle of summer, the sky is blue and the mercury is rising.
Tannum Sands Beach, a much-loved and frequented destination within the Gladstone region, is at its best.
It was also the chosen destination for Jayde McDonald, two-year-old Danielle Watkins and her mother Bree McDonald.
Travelling 20 minutes from home to venture out to the beach is a rare treat for the trio, who were looking forward to a swim in the saltwater.
Jayde McDonald says the extra distance is not a consideration when contemplating a visit to the beach.
"It's just a lot nicer here than other beaches closer to town," she said.
"Tannum Sands is not only the beach, but a lovely park for the kids too. It has everything in one spot."
Both McDonald sisters arrived in the Gladstone region about three or four years ago from the often unpredictable Melbourne climate.
They laugh as they concede that the move has been a massive lifestyle overhaul.
"We came to be closer to members of our family," they said.
And undoubtedly, the convenience of having most of the beach to themselves here in Tannum Sands is a drawcard that causes them to stay around.
