Singing in Christmas at the annual Carols by Candlelight

CHRISTMAS Eve has become just as big as Christmas Day itself for TV presenter David Campbell.

Campbell reunites with Channel 9 stablemate Lisa Wilkinson, to co-host Vision Australia's long-running Carols by Candlelight - now in its 77th year.

"It's my favourite night of the year," Campbell told The Guide. "I've been doing the Carols since 2001. I had a couple of years off and most years I've been just a singer but the past two years I've been hosting."

The Today and Morning Show stars both have an "unhealthy" love for the holidays, said Campbell.

"We both really are into Christmas in probably a very unhealthy way," he laughed.

"If we were hosting a whole month of Christmas stuff then people would get sick of us but I think one night's great."

The 2014 Carols will include performances by Kate Ceberano, Anthony Callea, the cast of Les Mis and this year's Voice winner, Anja Nissen.

"I think Anthony Callea is going to have a very special moment this year, but I won't ruin any of the surprises," Campbell said.

"We've got some of the stars of The Voice Kids, which will be great for all the kids watching at home. It's a really diverse group of musical acts. And, of course, Santa will show up."

Campbell, 41, will enjoy a quiet Christmas Day at home with wife Lisa, who is pregnant with twins, and their four-year-old son Leo.

"Leo has really got the tradition of it this year," he said. "He has already done his list for Santa and he's been telling me he's on the good list. It's a really sweet thing to have happen.

"He's planning on having a Star Wars Christmas. We love the fact that we have a little boy nerd."

Vision Australia Carols by Candlelight airs on Wednesday at 8pm on Channel 9/WIN.
