HAVING her dad cut out the back of her favourite dresses so she can wear them in hospital is enough to make Abi Wilkinson smile.

Each day, hearing of a new source of financial support brings a smile to the rest of the family.

Abi was seriously injured in a car accident on April 4. She remains in a Brisbane hospital, unable to move.

An online fundraising website has raised $17,000 in 17 days. On Wednesday, Sea FM collected $1893.50 from Boyne Tannum to Gladstone.

The local radio station pledged to continue fundraising for as long as it took.

A broadcast and fundraising call-out on Sea FM has led to a listener organising another event.

On May 3, Rockhampton and CQ Car Club will come together for a Dyno Day and show and shine event hosted by Insane Performance.

Organiser Chris Roy said the plight of the Wilkinson family struck a chord.

"I have a three-year-old," he said. "I know how I'd feel."

The event will be held at 48 Knight St, Rockhampton, with 100% of funds raised going to the cause. No donation is too small.

"The car club will run the show and shine and we request a $10 donation to the cause," Mr Roy said.
