Too noisy for the living room? Kids set up roadside gig

SITTING in the living room of her grandparent's house Sunday morning, Lily Watson's pop was quick to suggest she goes outside to practice her viola.

So the 10 year-old, with her two siblings six-year-old Sienna and nine-year-old Jaxon, made their way outside.

But instead of stopping in the front garden, the trio set up on the side of busy Auckland St, where everyone who drove by could hear their music.

"This is our first time playing on the side of the road," Lily told Observer photographer Paul Braven.

"My teacher Miss Smith has said to me that it's always good to keep practicing."

Grandma Lavinia Hopa said the three had been playing for hours and hours, and had been having a lot of fun doing so.

Lily says their next plan is a lemonade stand.
