Gladstone's regional showgirl has smile, style, sass

HELENA Sant is a pint-sized brunette with a whole lot of attitude - and she's ours. The 22-year-old has just been named Gladstone's 2015 Regional Showgirl.

Endorsed by show society president Craig Butler, Ms Sant had her work cut out for her at her first official task on Saturday night at Mt Larcom.

Mr Butler said she was a fine example of a regional woman.

"She will represent not only Mount Larcom but Gladstone as a whole at the regional finals up in Yeppoon in July," he said.

Ms Sant will go head to head with 16 other regional showgirls, but she's not worried in the slightest.

"I've grown up in Gladstone my whole life," she said. "So I know I can represent it with pride. I'm going to get my boots on, my akubra and show a bit of Gladstone twang."

"I'm not here for the perks. I'm genuinely proud to represent us."

The Yeppoon competition will be held on July 4 and will include a Q&A, a meet and greet and a parade.
