Sherry is our latest JP
LUCK didn't play a part in this Gladstone local's recent appointment.
Last Wednesday Sherry Luck was awarded her Justice of Peace licence by Gladstone Regional Council Mayor Gail Sellers.
Her JP licence will help ease the pressures faced by legal professionals in the community.
Coming from a family of JPs, Sherry said her new qualification eventuated from her passion for helping others.
"I believe it is important to feel like you are a part of the community and there are so many ways of contributing to the local community here in Gladstone," Sherry said.
Sherry is also an active member of the Volunteer Marine Rescue Squadron and the Mt Larcom Show Society.
"I truly believe there are so many ways we can all add a little something to the community."
What is a JP?
- JP refers to a Justice of Peace.
- JPs assist with the signing of legal documents that needs to be carried out in the community.
- The JP system is a quick, cheap and reliable alternative available to members of the community and takes the stress away from legal practitioners and officers.
- JPs help free lawyers and the courts to concentrate on cases that require professional legal training.
