Wedding worth the eight-year engagement
WHEN Shauna Byrne recalls her wedding day, she says only two words could describe it properly: absolutely beautiful.
After a lengthy engagement of eight years, Shauna and Glen wed in a celebration that befitted the wait.
On March 14, family and friends from as far as Wollongong and Weipa gathered at Tondoon Botanic Gardens to witness a celebration of love.
Among the 60 guests were the couple's two children Jackson, 7, and Cohen 3, who filled the important role of pageboys on their parent's special day.
"The highlight of the day was getting out of the car and laying eyes on my beautiful boys," recalled the new Mrs Byrne.
"It was really important to us both that our kids be involved in the day. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way."
An elegant reception followed the garden ceremony underneath the marquee at the Comfort Hotel Parklands in Calliope.
"I was so impressed with the staff at the reception," Mrs Byrne said.
"They really couldn't do enough for us. It really made our day all the more special knowing they had an interest in making the day exactly as we had pictured it."
Among the most treasured moments from her wedding day was watching her father take to the microphone to deliver a heartfelt message of love and congratulations.
"My dad got emotional when giving his speech," she said.
"It was a beautiful moment hearing him speak from his heart."
