Shark sighting closes Sunshine Coast beach

A SUNSHINE Coast beach was closed today after a shark was sighted behind the break.

The beach has since been reopened. 

Kawana Beach was closed after a Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter spotted a 2m shark during a patrol over Buddina. 

The shark was sighted behind the break south of Buddina. 

The the crew from the helicopter, Lifesaver 46, worked with lifeguards and Buddina Jetski to move the shark out to sea.

The punishment was handed down at a team meeting today.
