Severe thunderstorm warning cancelled for now

UPDATE 12.30PM: The severe thunderstorm warning issued this morning has been cancelled, but the potential for storms later this afternoon and evening still exists.

The bureau has advised that the immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

There is still a lot of rain showing on the weather radar over the Gladstone region.

11.20AM: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Gladstone region.

The bureau says thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the next several hours.

Gladstone is one of the locations that may be affected.

Motorists have been advised to drive to conditions.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has advised that people should move their car undercover or away from trees, secure loose outdoor items, and avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
