Seven caught drug driving on Dawson Hwy in under 10 hours

SEVEN drivers tested positive to drugs between 2.30 pm Saturday afternoon and just before midnight  when they were stopped by units from Calliope along the Dawson Hwy.

Saliva tests have been sent away by police for further testing after the seven separate drivers tested positive to having drugs in their systems.

Police also intercepted two high range drink drivers yesterday, both returned a blood alcohol reading of more than three times the legal limit.

At midday yesterday police intercepted a Holden commodore ute on Third Ave, Theodore. The driver, a 48-year-old man recorded a reading of .178%. He will attend court at a later date.

Around 5 pm Saturday a 37-year-old man driving a Holden astra hatchback was intercepted by police and recorded .174%. He will also attend court at a later date.

A 27-year-old woman intercepted by police in Banana was charged with low range drink driving after returning a reading of 0.54%. The Toyota land cruiser driver will attend court in the next month.
