Chance to see three top exhibitions at Gladstone gallery
ARTICLES AND IMAGES COLUMN: Join Cr Gail Sellers and guest speakers at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum from 6pm Monday, August 31, for the official launch of three exciting new displays, Saltwater Country, 2015 Golding Showcase: Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition and Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki Photographic Exchange Combined Images.
A major touring exhibition of contemporary Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, Saltwater Country features more than 50 works by 16 of Queensland's most acclaimed indigenous artists.
Including evocative images of Queensland's coast, sand and sea, examining its cultural importance and connection to country, Saltwater Country's celebrated artists include: Vernon Ah Kee, Michael Cook, Daniel Boyd, Fiona Foley, Rosella Namok, Mavis Ngallametta, Laurie Nilsen, Napolean Oui, Brian Robinson, Ken Thaiday, Alick Tipoti, Ian Waldron, Judy Watson, and new talents Megan Cope, Ryan Presley and Erub Arts.
The 2015 Golding Showcase: Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition features more than 100 works in all media by young artists age 15-18 from the Port Curtis and Callide Valley areas.
Continuing on display until Friday, October 2, this is the 21st presentation of the Golding Showcase, an initiative of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society, supported by the late society patron, Mr Cyril Golding (1920-2012).
Hosted in conjunction with Gladstone Multicultural Week, Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki Photographic Exchange Combined Images features 50 selected images taken by Saiki City and Gladstone region residents.
A fascinating snap shot of both communities, the display contributes to the growing collection of images gathered since 2003.
Intercity Images is an initiative of the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee, supported by the Gladstone Regional Council and will continue on display until Saturday, October 10.

RADF funds on offer
THE Gladstone Region Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is calling on local groups or individuals to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for projects that begin after November 1.
Submit an EOI by 5pm Monday, August 31.
There are four locally identified funding priorities for 2015-2016 RADF year:
- Arts and Culture Training and Development
- Year of Light Projects
- Building Program Partnership Projects
- Stronger Youth Projects
